Amazon Rainforest

Matses were a tribe or Jaguar people that lived along the Javari river in the remote areas of the Amazon Rainforest in Peru and Brazil. In the early 1990s, the Matses were not interested in money because they had little access to shop in their remote area of the Amazon Rainforest. Matses lived a different lifestyle, On hunting wild games, such as the peccary and tapir with bows and arrows and fishing as their primary food source, farming crops such as sweet plantain and manioc, and the collection of wild foods. To Matses, plants and animals have spirits just as humans do, and can ail or heal a human body. In the last thirty years, Matses have become a largely settled people, living mostly in permanent forest settlements. They started to contact with the outsiders, missionaries encourage assimilation into a modern culture so that they could improve access to trade goods and they started to began living in larger, fixed, super nucleated villages along the rivers. Now Matses are starting to be involved in the sustainable harvesting and marketing of natural products. They are harvesting renewable and valuable tree resins, such as copaiba and Sangre de Grado, they can earn money they need but be free of destructive and dangerous forestry jobs.

In maths we have have been learning about ratios and percentages. How to find a percentage of something, an example what is 71% of 1,000 how we work that out is we do.
1,000 x ( 71 ÷ 100)
71÷100 = 0.71
0.71 x 1,000 = 710

My piece of printmaking is a drypoint. I used a nail to create my lines in my drawing. On my plate all my lines are thick and all of them are the same. The way I hold my nail is the way I draw stuff on paper. When I was drawing it was pretty hard to get an angle because when you're using a nail to draw with its pretty hard because when your trying to get an angle you know that your gonna make a mistake but when I kept learning I finally got it. The greater you cut your work the deeper the line. Some of them won't show like mine, some didn't show because the nail I used wasn't sharp enough and when I printed it I saw that it was cut but not deep enough. In my drawing, I didn't use any tone. The material we used to wipe the ink off was a soft cloth and the tool we used to apply in on was a scraper. The equipment used to pressure the ink onto the paper was called the printing press which rolls up and down and puts pressure on your work.

When I looked at everyone's result they were all different to some had 6 as their higher number and some had 7 & 8 as there highest number and that surprised me because that means that 6, 7 & 8 are the most common numbers.

LATHE

In metal, we got introduced to a new type of machine called the lathe. A lathe is a tool that rotates the workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis. Lathe machine is used to perform basic operations such as cutting, drilling, tapping, turning with the help of different tools placed there. A lathe machine is used for shaping pieces of metal and sometimes wood or other materials. Cutters or cutting tools, carbide tipped tools, lathe turning tools, lathe parting off tools and drill bits are some of the main types of tools that are used on the metal lathe.

Because if a day or two later a patrol arrives at Ellie's and finds out there is a shot up BMW that they've been searching the district for some very nasty things could happen to Ellie's family. “Priceless Artwork Stolen!!,

In this, It represent an island boy named, Tevita he is lifting a barbell and it is placed on the upper chest of the man in the artwork. As normal portraits, you usually just see the face and the shoulders but in this portraits, it has my face shoulders and arms. It has heaps of places where it has been cut like on the left-hand side of the barbell. We see weights and it's been cut a lot around that area and also the background which is the gym there is a lot of cutting that has been done in that area. In my print, there are also dark areas which mean that there has been less cutting in that area like on the right-hand side there are weights. This weight is much darker because the light is shining more to the left side of the weights and that's why the right side of the weights look darker.

  1. Do you think the way they handled the snake incident was appropriate? What could they have done differently? Yes, because they didn't kill it they just left it to go back into the bush.
  2. Ellie claims that ‘Hell’ is only a label and that people label things all the time, often ignoring or overlooking certain labeled places or things. She then comes to the conclusion that ‘Hell was people’. Is she right? What’s your opinion, on labeling and Hell? I think it's a hard place to get to that's why its called hell but it could also mean that maybe hell was people.
  3. What was especially peculiar about the planes that flew over Hell? ‘Their ------, their ------, their----- frightened me.’ Do these characteristics have any significance?
  4. Corrie and Kevin are the only couples in the group, but the trip was bound to bring friends closer. So why does Homer’s interest in Fi seem so odd to Ellie?
  5. Fi brushes off the planes coming back from Commemoration Day. Why do you think the planes were flying over Wirrawee? To go to there hometown and destroy it and also began a war which could probably relate to the title of the book "Tomorrow, when the war began".
  6. Robyn claims there were dozens and dozens of planes flying over them. What is Lee’s response? Is his suggestion reasonable?

1) What are the advantages and disadvantages of first-person narration?
I think no because Ellie is not the only main character in this book so we might hear stuff from other people in the book.

2) Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order?
She is telling us stuff in order like she's going to start from the beginning.

3) Pick one interesting word from the chapter, find its meaning, and explain why it is interesting.
orgy - In modern usage, an orgy is a sex party where guests freely engage in open and unrestrained sexual activity or group sex.

4) John Marsden foreshadows several events and characters in this chapter. Make three predictions based on the evidence in the text about what may occur later in the story.

5) What kind of story do you think Ellie is going to tell? Uses evidence from the text to support your answers.

2) Why do you think the valley is called Hell?

3) Why must the teenagers seem like visitors from hell to the wild things living in the clearing? How is this ironic?
because they see the area as hell making it ironic that it seems they are from hell.

4) What picture of Kevin do we get in this chapter?
Immature and young minded.

5) What does Ellie liken Fi to? Do you think this is a fair assessment of her character. Use examples from the text to support your thinking

The things that I could do better for my physical well-being are how I eat like less junk food etc.

E S S A Y

The time of Apartheid was when black people got treated like slaves and that they were
treated differently to white people. The film The Power Of One, directed by John Avildsen,
we see in this scene how P.K will still young and how he got treated at school when he was taken away from his family.  The following techniques are used in this scene: Close-up shot,
Low-key Lighting and Diegetic. The film Technique helped this important idea and also created the
scene to have a strong impact on the audience.

In The Power Of One, director John Avildsen used a Close-up shot, For instance, the director,
John Avildsen, Used a close-up shot to show the anger in the face of Jaapie Botha.
The director did this to show us that Jaapie Botha is a bully and he has more power over
Geel Piet. This makes the audience feel Bad for P.K because of the action that P.K did to
Jaapie Botha. Now P.K is gonna get payback for what he did. This reminds me of the scene where Geel Piet was getting abused by Sergeant Bormann and It also made us feel the same way.

In the scene where Jaapie Botha hits P.K, we see the aspect of a low-key lighting. For instance,
the director, John Avildsen, Used a Low-key lighting to show us that the scene is in a dark room.
The Director did this to show us that the room was dark and to show us the anger in
Jaapie Botha face. This makes the audience feel sad because P.K is hanging from the roof and the look in Jaapie Botha face is not a good sign. This reminds of the scene Where Jaapie Botha was demanding and hitting the black person because he didn’t know where P.K was.

The director of The Power of One, John Avildsen, uses a diegetic sound.
For example, John Avildsen, Used a diegetic sound when Jaapie Botha was getting a tattoo.
The director did this to show us that there is music used in the background that the Hitler gang listens to. This technique created impact by helping me see that Jaapie is getting a tattoo and showing the support for Hitler and is also feeling powerful.
This scene reminds me of when P.K got told his mum has passed away and in that scene,
they used the same techniques by using Low key Lighting.

In conclusion, It shows us in the movie The Power Of One how black people got treated by getting abused and getting forced to do stuff. A scene that shows us that, is how P.K will still
young and how he got treated at school when he was taken away
from his family. The following techniques are used in this scene:diegetic sound, Close up-shot, and Low key lighting.
The film Technique shows a strong significant impact on the
audience to see how Afrikaners were treated during Apartheid.

  • It's for my Dad
  • I want it to function to hold a lot of tools and to make it last forever without any of the parts of the toolbox braking off.
  • The purpose is to put some of my Dad’s tools that he uses the most so it’s easier for him just to get the toolbox and it has all the stuff he needs so he doesn’t need to go walking back to garage get some tools.
  • It will be used in the garage and stuff outside the house.

The differences between hieroglyphics and technology now are that it takes longer to write names and stuff but technology now it just takes a second. Another example is that when we write we use the alphabet to write words but back in the days they had symbols for each letter and when they write they start from the top and go down but now we start from the left and end at the right-hand side.

I think its good to have Evidence because when it comes to your final decision it'll be so much easier for you. An example could be with Otzi how he was killed because their evidence was they found a bow and arrow behind his back and they found that he was struck from behind so then that meant that someone or a group struck Otzi with a bow and arrow.

In English were learning how to use Sexxy paragraph, S means for Statement, E means, for example,
X means for Explanation,
X means for Explanation but both of them are different the first X is for the Directors Purpose
and the other X is for the effect on the audience.
The last one is Y which means for Your link.
People that were in our group was Me, Zach, Shristi & Danny

Statement -

The director uses a long shot from behind the officer to show the fact that he had a batton
and what the officer would see.

Example -

The expression on Geel Piet's face indicates that he is guilty of something.
The long shot makes the weapon a focal point, it also shows the officers destination.

Directors purpose-

The director is placing the attention on the weapon to show the officers bad intention.
This shows where he intends to go, obviously to use the weapon.
This is also to show who is of higher social standing.
From this shot, you can see that Geel Piet is intimidated by the officer and is submissive
to the officer's power.

Explaining the effect of the reader/audience
the audience feels sympathy for Geel Piet even if he’s doing something bad.

Your link

This scene reminds me of when Geel Piet was caught by sergeant Borman just before
he was going to sing with P.k and the other prisoners, but was stopped on the way,
then the scene cutaway.

The scenes were similar because of the atmosphere and the facial expressions of the two characters.
